Erasmus+ activities available in Switzerland

Switzerland participates in the Erasmus+ programme as a Partner Country rather than a Programme Country.

Erasmus+ offers two different types of activity:

In addition, the Swiss national agency Movetia runs pilot projects as a partial replacement for some Erasmus+ activities.

Activities available

  • Joint Master Degrees: High-level international joint Master's degrees delivered by an international consortium of higher education institutions
  • Knowledge alliances: Transnational and result-driven cooperation between higher education and business, open to any discipline, with the aim to strengthen Europe’s innovation capacity by fostering innovation
  • Strategic partnership in education, training and youth: Organisation of mobility activities – including virtual mobility – with the aim of implementing innovative practices leading to high quality teaching, training and learning
  • Sport collaborative partnerships: Collaborative partnerships to develop, transfer and/or implement innovative practices in areas relating to sport and physical activity
  • Jean Monnet Activities: Actions promoting excellence in teaching and research in the field of European Union studies, with the objective to foster the dialogue between the academia and policy-makers to enhance the governance of EU policies (full participation of Swiss scholars possible)


  • The project application must be submitted by a non-Swiss project sponsor to their national agency;
  • The minimum number of partners must be reached, not counting Switzerland;
  • A Swiss partner must offer skills or knowledge that no other partner can offer (elimination criterion).
